After a good first day, on Franklins Flyte Grant went onto gain third place in
the 2* International Trial earning double points.

With confidence high he took Gold Crown into a speed ride and drive class.  Gold
Crown a good speed horse went clear in a fast time over the eight fence
course, then came the second part of the competition, driving at speed in a
brand new Renault through cones.  Well, not being able to use studs in this
section of Mr Crashmore took the final turn too fast and ended up embedding the brand new car in the arena fence, to the delight of the audience.  Officials
however have advised Grant to stick to horses in the future!

Grant Cashmore's Visit to Guernsey
Well what a weekend!

Grant was invited to Guernsey by the Riding & Hunt Club for an evening talk and training for their members. Although the weather was not very kind, Grant had an enjoyable and successful weekend.  First thoughts for Grant were how lucky the club are to have such fantastic grounds to train and compete at, the set up was brilliant.  Riders all listened and tried, mostly achieving the target set for them.

Will we be back

Most definitely!  Grant was very impressed with hospitality and riding.  He spoke of the similarities between his homeland and Guernsey, stating that the riders had the same problem.  They cannot easily compete or train, as they are cut off from the main competition.  If he had not had a break with Ian Millar in Canada he would never had been able to go on and compete at the Olympic Games.

Grant is passionate about helping others achieve their ambitions.  Therefore with the help of the Riding Club & BSJA, Grant and his team are setting up a scholarship to bring talented riders to his yard at Alfold for intensive training and to taste major competition.

Jan Coomer and her committee are already working on the scheme.  Gerrie Cashmore & Teresa will be back over on the 21st and 22nd of May to formalise rules and advertise the scholarship.

Gerrie will also conduct training over the two days before Grants next visit.

GRANT CASHMORE'S DECISION TO STAY IN SPAIN PAID OFF.
GRANT SPAIN.JPG (80507 bytes)Grant Cashmore decision to stay in Spain paid off with a prestigious Grand Prix win competing in the 2005 Sunshine Tour.  Grant had been hoping to get back to
New Zealand to compete at the Horse of the Year Show.  He had been competing in Spain for five weeks on his team of horse's.

Grant riding Susan Lajtha's Horse Franklins Flyte said "the course was very technical with only 2 double clear rounds in the competition.  It consisted of two doubles one after another, one being very long which caught out 82 of the starters in the class.  Just four went through to the jump off".

Grant is delighted with his latest result.
After resting his horses, Grant will be competing in the
UK.
